SLAM on Demand Emergency Airway Provider Course: This 10-hour course presents all essential aspects of emergency and difficult airway management including:

·  Airway management updates and recommendations from Guidelines 2005 by the
A
merican Heart Association and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation;

·  Assessment of the airway and clinical situation;

·  Proper use of rapid sequence induction and intubation;

·  Pharmacology of airway management,

·  Advanced techniques for difficult intubation;

·  Rescue ventilation options;

·  Cricothyrotomy;

·  Confirmation of tracheal intubation and monitoring of lung ventilation;

·  New fiberscopic and video laryngoscopic equipment suitable for use in EMS;

·  Management of burn and inhalation injuries;

·  Management of the traumatized airway and cervical spine injured patient;

·  Management of the airway in the emergency pregnant patient;

·  Pediatric airway management;

·  Sedation/analgesia for post-intubation management

The course includes: four hours of lecture; one hour for the pig cricothyrotomy workshop; and four hours of hands-on instruction.  The course has been completely updated since the publication of the SLAM textbook in August 2007 to include content, equipment and products.  Each participant will also receive a copy of the textbook SLAM-Street Level Airway Management by James Michael Rich from Brady Publishing.
